( Ages: 10 months and up ) Turn, Kick, Reach is a five consecutive day program taught to children, as young as ten months, what to do if they fell into the water. They learn to hold their breath and put their face in the water; swim to the steps and wall by kicking and MOST IMPORTANT, to turn around and swim back to where they fell into the water, because that is usually the closest place to reach safely.
From day 2 to day 5 we have the parent come into the water the last 5 minutes so the instructor can teach you the proper way to practice with your child. You will learn the proper way to hold your child, the proper commands, and how to release your child. This allows both you and your child to feel more comfortable when you have to practice.
At the completion of the 5 days it is essential that you practice everyday for at least 2 weeks. This reinforces what we have taught your child, strengthens his/her ability to perform the tasks and gives them more confidence in the water.
Just because your child feels comfortable in the water after the lessons, you need to remember one of the layers of protection – constantly keep an eye on what your child is doing in and around the pool. PARENTAL SUPERVISION is a must.
